Rev. Daniel Quinn - Pastor
Pastor Quinn has been Senior Pastor at Living Word since March of 2012. He loves preaching and teaching and brings a certain amount of enthusiasm to those aspects of his work. Pastor Quinn is also a “people person” and enjoys all of the opportunities Living Word provides for connecting with people. A life-long Lutheran, Pastor Quinn grew up in North-Central Illinois. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education from Concordia University, Seward, Nebraska in 1980. In 1981 he received Director of Christian Education Certification and served as a DCE at Peace Lutheran Church, Aberdeen, Washington from 1981-1986. Pastor Quinn received his Master of Divinity Degree from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis and was ordained a pastor in 1990. He served as Assistant Pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church and School, Greeley, Colorado from 1990-1994, as Sole Pastor at Peace Lutheran Church, Marcus, Iowa from 1994-1998, and as Senior Pastor at St. John’s Lutheran Church and School, Racine, Wisconsin from 1999-2012. Having continued studies at the seminary during the summers, he received a Sacred Theology Master’s Degree from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis in 1998. He has also served as Adjunct Instructor at Concordia University, Mequon, Wisconsin. Pastor Quinn puts forth his efforts to make sure that Living Word Lutheran Church is the place where the Living Word of Christ is proclaimed in all that is done, so that all who hear may walk in the newness of life.
Beverly L. Childs - Preschool Director
Bev and her husband, Jeff, have two grown children and have lived in The Woodlands since 2001. She has a BA Degree in Elementary Education from Wichita State University, along with over 15 years of teaching experience with Pre-schoolers through elementary age children at elementary schools in Kansas, Colorado, Texas and ACS Hillingdon International School in the United Kingdom. While in the United Kingdom, Bev also served as the Assistant Dean of Admissions at ACS Hillingdon. Most recently, she was the Education Coordinator and a teacher at The Woodlands Children’s Museum, in addition to serving as a long-term substitute teacher at The John Cooper School.
Melody Quinn - Director of Music
Melony Quinn has served as Music Director of Living Word since the fall of 2015. Melony has a Bachelor’s Degree in K-12 Education with teaching majors in Math and Music. Her principal instrument is the trumpet. Melony has served as choir director at Calvary Lutheran Church, Aberdeen, WA; choir director at Peace Lutheran Church, Marcus, IA; and substitute director of music at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Racine, WI. At Living Word, Melony directs the adult choir, the hand bell choir, the children’s choir, and helps plan worship services. Melony gives band instrument instruction to 5th through 8th graders one day a week at Salem Lutheran Elementary School in Tomball and is a regular substitute teacher at Concordia Lutheran High School in Tomball. Melony also sings as a member of Texas Master Chorale.
